Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine on July 26, 2013. During a recent interview with Parade, Jackman gave a bit more of information about the highly anticipated upcoming film. As we all know, The Wolverine takes place in Japan, howevere there wasn’t an specific timeline for the story, was it before all the X-Men movies or after… Thanks to the Australian character actor we now have an answer to that dilema.
“The movie takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him.”
This is something new, so far only seen in some comics of Wolverine. Apparently the film works its way through the pain and heartache due to the deaths that occurred in X-Men: The Last Stand, especially with Jean who was stabbed by Wolverine in the end. This experience must have taken Logan to the edge. The remaining question is who has learned a way to hurt him? my money is on Yuriko.
As a juicy piece of information, the get the fans all riled up, Jackman also revealed that there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it. This could be perceived due to the rumors that arised a couple of months ago, the gossip said that Famke Janssen (X-Men) was in Australia to do a cameo as Jean Grey.
The only confirmed fact is that Jackman won’t be the only one from the original X-Men trilogy to make a return. Jackman is also scheduled to appear as Wolverine in the upcoming sequel of X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past which will premiere on July 18, 2014.
A recent picture from The Wolverine revealed Logan (Hugh Jackman) showing off his bone claws, this could be a flashback from his old-days or another forgotten memory.
Meanwhile director James Mangold told in an interview with Empire, that this film is not a prequel at all. ”Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all,” revealed Mangold. ”Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.” Finally Mangold described his film as a ”Japanese noir picture with tentpole action in it.”
The image comes from the latest issue of Empire Magazine.
The Wolverine has a July 26th, 2013 release date, is being directed by JamesMangold, stars Hugh Jackman, with Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback on a script adapted from Frank Miller and Christopher Claremont‘s comic arc from 1982.
