Daniel Day Lewis: The Best Actor With The Most Oscars

The Academy Awards has always determined a high level of prestige among the filmmaking industry. Being awarded with an Oscar change completely your resume in the movie market. The movie with the most awards get immediately labeled as excellent, as well happen to the actors.

Daniel Day Lewis – Oscar for Best Actor – Lincoln (2012)

On Sunday, February 24th, Irish Actor Daniel Day Lewis became the actor with the most Oscars received in the category for Best Actor, for his work as 16th President of the United Stated, Abraham Lincoln in the biopic ‘Lincoln’.

Day Lewis has been nominated five times in the category of Best Actor in a Leading Role in which he has wan three. His first Oscar was in 1990 for the movie “My Left Foot: The Story of Christy Brown” and the second one, was five years ago in 2008 for his role as a California oilman in the movie “There will be blood”.  For his third award he had to beat fellow nominees: Bradley Cooper, Joaquin Phoenix, Denzel Washington and Hugh Jackman.

Reading Daniel Day Lewis filmography, we can conclude due to the short list of movies (comparing with fellow actors) he has lead that an exhausting procedure of review is held when choosing a new project. On the list of movies, I couldn’t find anything related to commercial nor low scrip quality.Maybe the only movie that can be labeled as a failure even though watching the trailer looks promising, is ‘Nine‘ with actresses Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, among others. Who could ever thought that a movie whose cast was contained by six Academy Award Winners produce a movie with such a lousy result.

Hugh Jackman Teases More of The Wolverine

Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine on July 26, 2013. During a recent interview with Parade, Jackman gave a bit more of information about the highly anticipated upcoming film. As we all know, The Wolverine takes place in Japan, howevere there wasn’t an specific timeline for the story, was it before all the X-Men movies or after… Thanks to the Australian character actor we now have an answer to that dilema.

The Wolverine

The Wolverine

The movie takes place after X-Men: The Last Stand. My character is at his lowest. He is supposed to be able to heal himself, but he may encounter someone who has worked out a way to really hurt him.”

This is something new, so far only seen in some comics of Wolverine. Apparently the film works its way through the pain and heartache due to the deaths that occurred in X-Men: The Last Stand, especially with Jean who was stabbed by Wolverine in the end. This experience must have taken Logan to the edge. The remaining question is who has learned a way to hurt him? my money is on Yuriko.

As a juicy piece of information, the get the fans all riled up, Jackman also revealed that there is a cameo from one of the past X-Men in it. This could be perceived due to the rumors that arised a couple of months ago, the gossip said that Famke Janssen (X-Men) was in Australia to do a cameo as Jean Grey.

The only confirmed fact is that Jackman won’t be the only one from the original X-Men trilogy to make a return. Jackman is also scheduled to appear as Wolverine in the upcoming sequel of X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past which will premiere on July 18, 2014.

Hugh Jackman will Slash his Way into X-Men: Days of Future Past

We previously wrote that Hugh Jackman was in talks to reprise his role as Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Today director Bryan Singer confirmed through his Twitter account that Jackman will return as the canadian claw wielding savage. “Of course Jackman is going to reprise his role! He loves the Wolverine character!

Days of Future past is a sequel to X-Men: First Class, because it involves time travel elements which can be linked to the story of characters from the previous films of Singer, who will also be included in the story. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were previously confirmed by Singer to reprise their roles as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto. While ‘First Class’ stars James McAvoy (young Xavier), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) will also be back for more mutant action.

Singer is looking to get other cast members, there are rumours circulating on the web saying that James Marsden is talks to return as Cyclops. Fans would rejoice if all the time travel elements fix the disastrous events of Brett Ratner‘s X-Men. There are also rumours that Famke Janssen would return as Jean Grey. Hope they bring back Taylor Kitsch to reprise his role as Gambit.

Jackman, who had a memorable cameo in “X-Men: First Class,” recently wrapped production of director James Mangold‘s “The Wolverine.” The extent of his role in “Days of Future Past” hasn’t been revealed, but it’s been suggested the three original-trilogy actors will spend limited time on screen, most likely in scenes depicting the dystopian alternate future. Maybe we’ll get to see the white haired Wolverine.

Days of Future Past would mark the seventh film for Jackman as Wolverine, counting 2013′s The Wolverine, out July 26 in the United States. Days of Future Past, a sequel to 2011′s X-Men: First Class and based on the classic comic book storyline that ran through Uncanny X-Men #141 and #142, is scheduled for release on July 18, 2014.

The sequel is based on 1981′s Uncanny X-Men which came from writer Chris Claremont and artists John Byrne and Terry Austin. The story is set in an alternate future where surviving mutants have been thrown in concentration camps, Sentinels are patrolling America, and most of the X-Men have been hunted down and killed. The present day X-Men are forced to stop a key event from unfolding in order to keep that future from occurring.

Rose Byrne is Dating Bobby Cannavale

More news about upcoming Bryan Singer project “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. Rose Byrne, the actress who portrayed CIA agent Moira MacTaggert on “X-men: First Class” has started dating “Boardwalk Empire” actor Bobby Cannavale.

Bobby Cannavale and Rose Byrne

According to witnesses, the new couple started to suspiciously getting closer and closer on the premiere party for Brad Pitt film “Killing Them Softly” in New York. It seems the actors have been dating for along time.

UsMagazine sources described  the moment “They were sitting together and he had one arm over her shoulder, and every 20 minutes they have a little kiss. Theytried to go unnoticed but it doesn’t really work that much.”

The couple don’t have any plans of sharing a film project together, she has a busy agenda for 2013 and he will keep busy with “Boardwalk Empire.

There is still the rumor that Rose Byrne will return as agent Moira MacTaggert on X-Men: Days of Future Past even though director Bryan Singer hasn’t confirmed yet.

Hugh Jackman Talks About X-Men: Days of Future Past

Hugh Jackman seems to be eager to return to X-Men: Days of Future Past and work once again with director Bryan Singer to reprise his role as the Canadian savage Wolverine.

While promoting his latest film, Les Miserables, Hugh Jackman took the time to talk about his friendship with Aussie actor Russell Crowe, who turned down Wolverine and recommended his name to Bryan Singer- Jackman also mentions he is already in talks for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the famous actor joked that there will be four claws in the movie.

There is an X-Men: First Class Sequel which Bryan Singer is directin, which I think is awesome.” Jackman told Access Hollywwod. “It started with Bryan. I know fans are super excited. I did a three hour three word cameo in the last one. Literally it took me three hours. And I have been talking to Bryan about doing something in this.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past is based on 1980′s comic series set in a Post-Apocalyptic alternate future, where mutants are hunted like animals by powerful sentinels. The upcoming movie of Bryan Singer has a July 18, 2014 release date starring Ian McKellen (Magneto), Patrick Stewart (Proffesor X), Michael Fassbender (Young Magneto), James McAvoy (Young Xavier), Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult.

Jackman will also be starring as Wolverine in James Mangold‘s The Wolverine on July 26, 2013.

James McAvoy Chose X-men over Wikileaks

The choice has been made and James McAvoy is returning to “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. The scottish actor who played “Professor Charles Xavier” in “X-men: First Class” decided to return to his role in the upcoming film of the Marvel franchise.

James McAvoy as a 1962 Professor Charles Xavier.

Comic Books and saga novels films are the ones that can better identify an actor with a specific role. Hugh Jackman will always be Wolverine. Robert Downey Jr will always be Tony Stark. But sometimes when the actors have physical changes or get pretty demanding, or in some other cases the franchise change the production company, the producers and director will decide cast another actor for a role another actor have portrayed several times. It had happened in the Batman saga, Superman Saga and in the Hulk Saga. Three movies of Hulk, three different actors. I am glad Mark Ruffalo stayed as the formal Dr Bruce Banner for “The Avengers” sequel.

This fear of losing his role of a young Professor Xavier might caused James McAvoy to ditch his almost signed project with director Bill Condon about Wikileaks and Julian Assange. The fact that actors: Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine, Ian McKellen will return as a 2012 Magneto, Michael Fassbender will return as a 1962 Magneto and Patrick Stewart will return as a 2012 Professor Xavier set the message that this movie is betting all his resources for going blockbuster.

In the other hand, the project McAvoy is abandoning tell the story about the relationship between Julian Assange and the international newspapers. The film is directed by Bill Condon and based on the book written by Daniel Domscheit-Berg. McAvoy was supposed to portray the author of the book meanwhile Benedict Cumberbatch is going to portray Julian Assange.

By saying NO to the producers, the film company casted Daniel Bruhl from Inglorious Basterds for replacing James McAvoy. There are rumors that Laura Linney will be casted too. Maybe accepting the role of Christine Assange, Julian’s Mother.

Hugh Jackman Already in Talks for X-Men: Days of Future Past

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Hugh Jackman is already in negotiations to reprise his role as the Canadian with Adamantium claws in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Jackman will get the deal he wants since he IS Wolverine, and officially sign on the film. So far the Australian actor has been in every X-Men film.

After Bryan Singer announced, through his Twitter account, that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were confirmed to reprise their roles as Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto/ Eric Lensherr along with their younger counterparts James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender (Xavier and Eric Lensherr in X Men First Class). It’s already a promising cast, Singer is reaching to several other cast members, hope they get Taylor Kitsch to reprise his role as Gambit.
