Now Bautista will work alongside Chris Pratt who recently was chosen to play the film’s lead, Peter Quill a.k.a Star-Lord.

THR informed that Bautista was competing for the role with Isaiah Mustafa, Patrick Wade and Jason Momoa. The WWE wrestler Dave Bautista appeared in the Man with the Iron Fists and will star opposite Vin Diesel in the upcoming Riddick movie.

The first comic book appearance of Drax The Destroyer, was in the Iron Man #55 in 1973  in addition to the first appearance of The Avengers post-credit scene foe, Thanos.

Drax was originally a human name Arhur Douglas whom Thanos had killed but was resurrecty by the Eternal Kronos, to fight against Thanos. At first Drax was more like the Incredible Hulk, with low intelligence and green skin to boot, but in 2005 he was remade into more of a “God of War” Kratos-like figure. After this change he has featured in the Marvel Cosmic resurgence with Annihilation and soon became a member of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

The goal and purpose of Drax in his ‘after-life’ is to remove Thanos from the universe.

Could Iron Man Wander into Space with The Guardians of the Galaxy?

Apparently there’s a rumor going on that Marvel wants Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his role as Iron Man in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. This interesting news came first from comicbook.com, but that’s it, and it’s still a rumor without confirmation.

Another hint is that during the New York Comic Con Marvel revealed the cover of the new Guardians of the Galaxy graphic novel, and Iron Man was seen as part of the group. Needless to say that many people started to especulate that the flamboyant billionaire Tony Stark (RDJ) could be in the deep space film. However Robert Downey Jr. still has to sign a new contract with Marvel, Iron Man 3 is his last film under contract.

Here is a tease of Iron Man meeting with the Guardians… you be the judge.

This is what the revealing article of comicbook.com had to say:

While we’re unsure if this connects, a twitter account with the handle Roger Wardell has been known to tweet some Marvel Studios new before it has been actually announced. Before the New York Comic Con revelation of Iron Man appearing in the new Guardians of the Galaxy comic book, Wardell tweeted, “Inside News: Remember that the Guardians of the Galaxy banner was only concept art, so that may not be the final roster of the team.”

“In other tweets, Wardell has suggested that Iron Man 3 underwent a last minute rewrite particularly in the film’s third act and that Iron Man 3 will feature a mid credits scene and a post credits scene. Our sources aren’t familiar with a rewrite or how many in credits scenes there are in Iron Man 3, but if Wardell is correct, then here’s a little bit of speculation.

Marvel Denies Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Film Rumor

Yesterday, Cosmic Book News posted a partial scan of the latest issue of SciFi Now Magazine, which features a lengthy article of the Marvel upcoming movie “Guardians of the Galaxy“, directed by James Gunn (Slither). However the article claimed that the film it’s going to be a fully animated feature.

James Gunn, Groot and blaster Rocket Raccoon

‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ an animated offering starring little-known cosmic characters like Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon and helmed by ‘Super’ and ‘Slither” director James Gunn, will probably explore Thanos more — defending the universe being their whole raison d’etre, after all. How an animated movie from a director known for subversive comedy and horror will neatly gel with the live-action movies is an obvious challenge, but it’s not the only one.”

The article surely excited fans who were eager for the first animation collaboration between the Houses of Mouse and Ideas, but any celebration was premature. CBR contacted Marvel to confirm SciFi Now’s report, the entertainment company responded with official that the article is incorrect: “Guardians of the Galaxy” is not an animated film.

In this digital age the movie will certainly have the CG-animation treatment. But we do expect to see a superb animated Rocket Racoon and Groot, the sentient plant, come to life with a perfect combination of Disney and Marvel tools.

Michael Rooker Interested in Guardians of the Galaxy Role

The upcoming film of Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy is still on the works. Meanwhile Michael Rooker, actor from The Walking Dead is already trying to pitch the role of a certain furry pint-sized tactician.

Michael Rooker could be Rocket Raccoon

I love raccoons,” said Rooker to MovieWeb with a knowing laugh. “Racccoons are my friends!

Michael Rooker has already proven he’s got a voice for talent, when he starred in DC Showcase: Jonah Hex (2010) as Red Doc. The zombie slaying actor with gravelly voice of the gun-toting Rocket Raccoon has already worked with director James Gunn, who now leads the show on the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Even though the actor said that his return to The Walking Dead this season as racist meth addict Merle Dixon (now sporting a hand-blade) leaves little time for other projects, but he was very clear that he would find room on his schedule for Guardians of the Galaxy.

Are you looking forward to hear Rooker blasting aliens as Rocket Raccoon? He might have some cool lines!
