Singer Sinead O’ Connor Congratulates The Pope

Many of us, regardless our religious beliefs, were shocked  about the announcement of the Pope’s Resignation and is completely justified due to the fact that in 600 years there has not been the pontiff resign since Pope Gregory XII in 1415.

Voices around the world have been heard, from world leaders to catholic through their twitter accounts. Singer Sinead O’ Connor has expressed her feelings through a message on her personal website. Before reading the message, we must remembered that O’Connor is well known for her beautiful song “Nothing Compares to U” and for her controversial ‘Saturday Night Live‘ performance in 1992 where she ripped off a picture of Pope John Paul II after finishing her own version of Bob Marley’s song “War” and calling “fight the real enemy“.

That episode is in the past but the consequences still live today and has marked Sinead O’Connor forever.

Sinead O’ Connor statement: ”I would like to congratulate Pope Benedict on his wise decision to retire before the very worst of what has been going on is discovered. I appreciate his alluding to some of it in his statement and assure him The Most High forgives those who can faithfully say they did wrong. The church has been brought into dreadful disrepute by lies and blasphemies against The Holy Spirit. Benedict’s greatest achievement is this act of retiring. There is a chance now for the church to be re-built and made fit to house The Holy Spirit.”

The Irish singer whose herself has been a victim of child abuse, has four kids, has been married twice and considers herself as a very faithful person. She had even gotten a tattoo of ‘Jesus Sacred Heart‘ on the center of her chest.
