In February, Michael Bay officially announced that he would be back for Transformers 4 and would start filming it as soon as he was done with his latest project Pain & Gain. The change of heart of Bay who had previously stated ‘while making Transformers: Dark of the Moon‘ that it would be the last movie he worked on in the franchise. Apparently Bay one day remembered how much he loved the world and just couldn’t let it go.
Bay spoke with The Huffington Post and said that he had a moment of clarity when Transformers: The Ride debuted at Universal Studios Hollywood. “I thought I was done,” he said. “Then the ride came out and the two-and-a-half-hour lines. And then you’re thinking, ‘Oh my God, someone’s going to take this over,’ and you start doing a lot of soul-searching.”
The director said that when he committed himself to Pain & Gain that Paramount started talking about rebooting the franchise, and he was concerned that somebody new would be brought in and would “screw it up.” Transformers 4 will be released on June 27, 2014.
In his official website Michael Bay dismissed the rumor that Mark Wahlberg would be joining the upcoming Transformers 4 film, ‘saying he and Wahlberg are talking about reuniting on a different project, not Transformers 4.’
