Manu Bennett Will Wear Deathstroke’s Mask in Arrow

In ‘Damaged’, episode 5 of the hit-action series of CW Arrow, Jeffrey Robinson appeared briefly as Deathstroke, now the role has been recast to Spartacus gladiator co-star Manu Bennett, Crixus, (30 Days of Night) to fill the role of Slade Wilson, the DC Comics villain better known as Deathstroke. Since the character never removed his mask in the episode, the casting change will probably go unnoticed. Bennett is committed to perform in several episodes of the CW series, he’s also expected to appear in the ‘back half’ episodes next year.

According to EW, Deathstroke will be depicted again in flashbacks as he and Oliver Queen (star Stephen Amell) “form an uneasy alliance” on the North China Sea, in the Lian Yu island, where Amell’s character was shipwrecked for five years. Considering that in ‘Damaged’ Deathstroke was last seen torturing Oliver, “uneasy” is probably an understatement.

The mercenary assassin first appearance was in “New Teen Titans” #2, in December of 1980. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. Soon Deathstroke became a regular foe of the super-team through its many incarnations while also making time to clash with Green Arrow, Batman, Nightwing and many other DC heroes.
