Dolly Parton: “I’m not Gay”

On October 1973, the country pop single “Jolene” was released. A song dedicated to a young blonde girl who is trying to take the singer’s husband. The song was written and sung by country superstar Dolly Parton and it became one of her most requested songs.

Nowadays, Jolene’s author had to deny the lesbian rumors and a romantic relationship with her best friend, Judy Ogle.

During an interview with American Tv show “Nightline” Parton expressed “I’m not gay”. The singer stated that she has been Judy Ogle friend since they were little kids. They have been best friends since she remember and her love for her is the result of an ever lasting friendship.

Gay rumors among long-term friends is not unusual inside a society hungry for knowing who’s gay and who’s not. The same happened to TV host Oprah Winfrey and best friend Gayle King. Actually, many news journal still suspect about the relationship.

Dolly Parton has been married with Carl Thomas Dean since 1966.

On May 30, 2012, the couple celebrated their 46th anniversary.
